Dismal Swamp Canal

So in the morning everyone left except Bob N Along we decided to view the Visitors Centre and go for a walk.

This is the bridge and our boats are in the background.  This swamp was hand dug by slaves to build the canal.  Lots of history to much for me to tell.

Now the center has stuffed animals that live in the swamp, and a video on lots of the history and different animals.  The above is a rat but they have a special name for it.

People drive into the park to check everything out either on bicycle or walking trails.  We are now at the end.

The lockmaster here was great entertaining and a practical joker.  He took a conch shell and blew into it and made an actual song with his fingers playing it.  Absolutely fantastic.gentleman and fun to boot.
