We arrived at Chub Cay March 20th and we are leaving Saturday morning for Bimini. While here we enjoyed the pool met new friends and old friends La Rive Bob and Jane we met in Mackinaw City, Charlevoix and on the river. Went for drinks and story telling.
Bill and Nancy on Moon Dance and we shared a golf cart and had a tour of the island by one of the workers.
I cannot believe this is the female and take a look at the male.
They are doing irrigation here to grow crops as you will see as we go along.
They are doing a wonderful job on this they have peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, egg plant and others to numerous to mention.
Lots of construction going on as well. They recruit people from other islands who are well respected and everyone has a job. They also have lodging for them and do everything as well as furnish their lodgings. They do not take married couples singles only and they make good money.
This is their lodgings.
They have 4 big generators and make all their own fresh water. Only one generator is being used for the whole island at this time.
These are the workers lodging, they also have a beach bar.
We visited the airport and they have immigration and police station as well.
Next we visited the Blue Hole now I did not realize they had one on this island they do not know how deep it is but they get fish, shark, rays, and everything comes into this pond and then disappears again. Several caverns into the ocean.
Now the houses shown above are rentals $800.00 for one bedroom per day, 2 bedroom are $100.00 to $1500.00 per day. Not cheap but it is a nice marina. The fishing season is on and we are amongst boats 2000 feet to 60 feet the smallest. So we are tiny compared to some of these boats.
Out in front of the marina anchored is this sailboat 180 feet and a keel that is 25 feet.
This is the dingy for the sailboat.
What a ship. more to come later.
What an adventure! What a sailboat, my gosh.
